Whether you’re skiing in Aspen, snowboarding in Avoriaz, or partaking in other winter sport activities such as ice skating or tobogganing, heading to one of the world’s top mountain ranges to enjoy the snow is a wonderful way to spend a week or two.
There really is nothing like cruising down a piste with blue skies overhead and the sparkling snow below. While the hope is that this idyllic picture will provide the permanent backdrop for your trip as with any mountain based activity you have to be prepared for all eventualities and that conditions can change within minutes.
As such it’s always best to have the comfort of knowing that you have packed a travel insurance policy that’s specifically geared to cover you for any issues that could arise during your snow bound break.
Spectrum Winter Sports Travel Insurance Extension provides specialised cover for aspects including piste rescue, emergency medical treatment, lost or stolen ski equipment and much more.
Our Winter Sports insurance extension adds focused cover for snow based holidays. As well as all our usual policy benefits, including a 24 hour emergency helpline to make sure you receive the best medical care possible, our Winter Extension will upgrade your cover to include 28 winter sports so you can partake in lots of alpine activities both on and off the piste including husky dog sledding, snow tubing and Nordic skiing. It also provides cover for ski equipment and much more.
If your ski or snowboard holiday is all set then the sooner you take out your policy, the sooner you’ll be covered for key aspects such as cancellation. Also Spectrum Winter Sports policies provide cover for medical expenses should you fall ill or receive an injury. Without cover any resulting medical bills will be handed to you to pay and they could run into hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds.
Spectrum’s Travel Insurance covers a whole host of areas to give you real peace of mind. Key aspects include:

If you’re concerned about getting cover for an existing condition, don’t be. Spectrum considers all conditions and you can get covered either online or over the phone. Either way we’ve made the process of declaring your condition as straightforward as possible.
If you have an existing medical condition then it’s important to declare it when you take out your cover. That’s because if something happens that’s linked to your condition and you haven’t told us about it, then it is likely that any related claim will be declined.
So don’t risk travelling without cover – get a quote today.
With Spectrum you have the option to add 17 days Winter Sports cover when you purchase an Annual Multi-Trip policy. Or if you have an existing Annual policy with Spectrum and you choose to head off to the slopes then you can add cover during the term of your policy for an additional premium.
You can cover trips up to 100 days with a Winter Sports single trip policy. But if you need to cover a longer trip, then you can easily add Winter Sports cover to Spectrum’s Gap Year or Long Stay policies.
As with any holiday it’s always a good idea to take out your insurance as soon as you’ve booked your trip and that’s no different with a winter sports break. If you’re taking out cover for a single trip, cancellation is covered as soon as your policy is purchased. With an annual policy you can choose a different start date from your purchase date but please be aware that you won’t be covered for cancellation until the policy commencement date.
